Keeping Tennessee’s Trucking Industry Informed & Compliant

Industry Experts Discuss Key Updates on DOT Regulations and Safety Measures

Nashville, TN –

With major changes on the horizon, including DOT-regulated oral fluid testing and updates to the FMCSA Clearinghouse, industry professionals gathered in Nashville for the Tennessee Trucking Association’s latest workshop. Among the attendees was Kelly Dobbins of Mid South Drug Testing, who joined the session alongside Patrice Kelly, a leading authority on drug and alcohol compliance in transportation.

Patrice Kelly, former Director of the DOT’s Office of Drug and Alcohol Policy and Compliance, played a key role in crafting the DOT’s final rule on oral fluid testing. She is currently serving as the Senior Policy Executive Advisor to the National Drug and Alcohol Screening Association on a temporary assignment from the U.S. Department of Transportation.

The workshop covered several pressing topics affecting the trucking industry, including:

  • DOT-Regulated Oral Fluid Testing – An overview of the oral fluid testing option and its implications for compliance and enforcement.

  • Proposed Rescheduling of Marijuana – Discussion on potential reclassification and how it could impact trucking safety and operations.

  • FMCSA Clearinghouse Updates – Recent changes affecting drivers and employers, along with expert answers to common clearinghouse questions.

This workshop provided invaluable insights for industry professionals navigating the evolving landscape of drug and alcohol compliance. As regulations continue to shift, staying informed is critical for ensuring safety and regulatory adherence in the trucking sector.
